IN HEAT ROADMAP FOR 2023: UPDATE LOG.

Hello hello fans!

Sorry this one is a bit delayed compared to most devlogs, the recent changes with ITCH's systems have been interesting to say the least.

Anyway lets get into it shall we?

Good news for anyone really wanting a Steam release, due to the issues surrounding payment processors on ITCH's platform, we have basically been forced to focus on a Steam early access release. Do not worry this DOESN'T mean you will need to buy the game again on steam. You will always get the latest updates here on ITCH.io regardless.

With this Steam Early Access release planned for roughly this fall, You should be seeing a fully complete first level, and a good chunk of the story included in the secondary game mode. Lets go over a quick roadmap of what is to come.

(Right click and then view full sized image, I dont know why this one is so small)

Included above will be our main focuses for this year, I am not interested in having a 5 year Patreon situation like many of the other developers on this platform.  Instead, we will simply complete the levels we have planned, and provide the lewd content as promised.  Any sort of content bloat will be circumvented to a sequel instead.

You might notice some new things addressed above, in order to not copy other surveillance horror games, and other titles that use the FNIA characters, we will be including an investigation gamemode!

Now what is an investigation gamemode? Well to put it simply, many surveillance horror titles have you consistently checking cameras. An idea bloomed with the team, that suggested that perhaps while you are going through and checking out the girls, that you might be able to find objects in the game world, kinda like I-SPY. If you have been a fan for quite a bit of time, you might remember that we used to have a selection of video cassettes that you could find in the admin room. Imagine that, but with several interesting items that will teach the player about the lore of Diamond Straits, while potentially giving some insight into some of our beloved characters.

The Monster Girls of Diamond Straits are rather secretive, but with enough clues you might be able to get them to crack.  We will be featuring a small VN-like game mode where you will be able to interview Sammy, Poppi, Maddie, ect. using the items you found whilst using the cameras to perhaps get a better grasp of the truth. Think of this like how the Ace Attorney, and the Danganronpa games do it!

=======================================================

Next, while everyone might not be into that sort of gameplay, fear not as we have some upgrades to our key surveillance horror systems.

Besides a model viewer, we have plans to set up an unlimited night mode, and a custom night mode. All things you guys have been craving for.

But I do ask, would you people be interested in a Roguelike mode, where the monsters continuously get more and more difficult, and you need to find items via the camera systems to upgrade yourself? This is an idea I'd really like to have in our game, but I am not sure if the fans are totally into roguelike systems.

We will provide additional updates to highlight these new systems when they are a bit more flourished, but I hope you are as excited as I am!

========================================================

With Update 0.801, we have two different build variations. One has an optimized baked lighting system, the other uses unoptimized Lumen. Please do tell us your experience with both. I am fed data that we shouldn't need to worry about people playing the game on Potatoes, yet I feel like its a duty as a game developer to have your game be as playable as possible on systems, funny really.

Here are some updates to this build as well. Sorry again for the lack of content with this update, as rebuilding a game in 4 months is much harder than it looks. We will be hopefully releasing Ari with the update in June, so things are looking brighter and brighter!

0.801 changes

- Tweaked overall difficulty

- Replicated previous version's camera angles

- Removed old placeholder barriers

- Iterated menu visuals

- Placed sanity overlay on all in-game menus

- Heavily altered lighting (again)

- Made the funny T-Pose rarer

- Added a temporary porn gallery

- Swapped videos over to bink

if the engine is changing, does this roadmap still hold up?

(+1)

No, but it will be improved quite a bit actually.

If i already bought the game will i receive future updates ?
Or am i gonna remain with the actual files ?

how many euro will be in steam?

(+1)

14.99USD is a potential pricing range for full release.

That is 13.94 euros.

I'm quite intrigued on how you plan on doing the roguelike aspects. I for one can't wait to see how you make it work. I just can't wait for this game to be done since it's so good already imo.

You got to do something new or you might as well just be apart of the fanverse XD

I Spy?

I LOVE I SPY!!!

I wish there were more games like that in modern days.

Me too tbh

I'M GOIN ROGUE-MODE!!!

Keep up the great work guys!

Thank you thank you!

That's certainly an interesting direction to take this game. I'm all for roguelike mechanics in any game. Increases the replay value immensely. Needless to say the interrogation mode seems like a good way to expand on the characters some.

I'm curious to see how this'll turn out.

I am sure it will go great!

i bought the game here on ich.io and i love it. BUT the Steam game will propably not be available in my country. Would i get a steam Key because i bought it here or would that have to happen seperatly

Seperately most likely. Steam copy is currently being published by Critical Bliss.

Thank you very much for the info ^^

I am late to the party, but what happened with itch?

Itch made updates to their payout systems, that were not so cool.

Wtf are you even talking about??

Are you gonna bring back the old graphic's settings? Its how i could play the before And with one in this build it runs at 8-10 frames and its hard to manage

Have you tried the new optimization version?

The old graphics settings won't come back, but new ones that work for the engine will!

Rogue-like sounds like good innovation. I support it. Hopefully it goes as you plan it.

This all sounds really cool, the investigation and rogue like game modes are really cool ideas.

roguelike is a yes for me

Might be interesting.

Roguelike definitely sounds interesting!  I'm a big fans of games like the Metro games, so this should be enjoyable!  Quick question, though: Will the decisions made here affect the sequels (if any) at all?  Like, if you make other chapters for this, will the decisions I made in the first chapter impact what happens in the others?  The only thing I didn't like about the Metro games was, even if I got the 'good' ending, the sequels just disregarded that and just assumed I got a different ending.  Which made having an option to get the 'good' ending moot, as it wasn't reflected in the sequels.

Also, do I need to buy this game again to get the updates?  I already bought it once, but the only link I see for the updates is the 'Buy Now' button.

You do not need to buy additional updates for this game, Itch just refuses to be decent nowadays. Check your library and you should see In heat with all of its updates available for you!

With how the carryover to the sequel is planned, there is really nothing anyone could do on Diamond Straits to prevent the calamity from occurring.

So while you will be able to get additional ending content. you won't be able to escape from fate.

I'm not trying to sound like a Debbie downer when saying this but here goes. So...we're going to die I assume or some OTHER such terrible unavoidable end? I honestly hope not too many horror games use such inescapable death as the ultimate scare if you will but it's over used, and cliched. In my honest opinion living through such an event can and often is MUCH worse. Want proof ask anyone who's been in wartime combat.

That aside I do hope a happy ending can be achieved in some way maybe in a sequel or something I don't know I just know that the girls are super cute and I'd hate to think they're all psycho killers. From what I've got they don't want to kill it's just they're so strong and horny they break their lovers on accident.

ON to ideas investigation sounds neat Rogue like mode could be good if handled well.

Just downloaded and installed 801a, and it keeps crashing when I try to open it.  Did the same with 801b.  Any advice?  Anything make this so radically different that it would crash, when the previous one didn't?

The investigation sounds cool! like a fun spin on the salvage mini game in fnaf 6

I hope you will enjoy it when it comes out!

These changes sound awesome! I would love the rogue like game mode

Gotcha gotcha, Good to hear!

The investigative aspect to it sounds like it could be really cool! I always liked the Ace Attorney games so I'm looking forward to that for sure!

I think a roguelike mode could be interesting but I wouldn't want it to detract from other parts of the game either. So if it can be balanced in that aspect then I'm all for it! It's definitely an intriguing idea but I feel I'd need a bit more details on what it would be like before I could decide whether or not I'd enjoy it. Regardless, I do like me some roguelike games lol.

Thanks so much for all your hard work! I'm excited to see where this game goes in the future! Not much of a fan of fnaf, but something clicks for me with this game (outside of the beautiful monster girls lol) that just keeps my interest a lot better.
